Writing Out Loud: Another prompt
I just can’t help it . . . my students are being so creative! I posted a couple weeks ago about a student whose work in class was so impressive. (You can read it here.) Here is another one I loved…for her boldness and her honesty. Another reason I love posting this prompt response is because this student is of an age where any feelings or expressions of sexuality are written off as non-existent. Not this lady . . . Enjoy her piece ;)
The exercise: Look at the picture of this person. After a minute, answer the question, “Who Am I?” in the first person. (As if you were the person talking.)
“I see you looking at me
Is it my wind tossed hair that has caught your attention?
I call this do the look after the ride before.
Hey, I know you’re trying to peer into my deep-set eyes
to see what you can see, but that shall not be.
A man of mystery, that’s me.
I see you looking at me.
Yes, my custom made jacket hugs my broad shoulders
ending at my 32" waist. And I now notice
your gaze is now drawn to my belt, placed
just below my jeans . . . just for thee.
So far do you like what you see?
I see you looking at me.
These jeans of mine are now of interest to you?
Are they not?
Yes, they were made specially for me.
For as you know by now it’s a biker I be.
A tight fit and a swagger when I walk will
have women watching me pass.
I do believe they’re looking at my ass!
Are you?”
